Authorities identify man killed in Mesa house fire

A 57-year-old man died last week in a Mesa house fire, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, police said Monday.

Richard Daniels died in the fire that started late in the afternoon of May 8 at 1742 E. 7 ^th Ave., according to a release from the Mesa Police Department.

Daniels’ body was found during a search that took place after the fire was extinguished and was turned over the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner.

There was no update Monday as to the cause of the fire.
