    HHS boys sixth, girls fifth at Cambridge

    CAMBRIDGE—The Hibbing High School boys track team got two individual first place finishes at the Norm Ayen Invitational held last week.

    On the boys side, Cambridge-Isanti had 217 points to place first. Duluth East followed with 109, Chisago Lakes 91, Cloquet 87, Sartell 77, then the Bluejackets at 68. Duluth Denfeld had 42 and Hermantown 34.

    Individually, Aiden Shephard won both the shot put with a toss of 50-feet—4.25-inches.. He also won the discus with a heave of 136-0.

    Other Bluejacket boys in the top eight were as follows:

    The 4x800 team of Brady Janezich, Lucas Arnhold, Jack Bottoms and Jake Walli were second in 8:52.27.

    Finn Eskeli placed sixth in the 100 in 11.55. He was also fifth in the 400 in 54.52. He placed fifth in the 200 in 24.22.

    The 4x200 of Isaac Hendrickson, Tyler Fosso, Jason Rock and Christian Massich was sixth in 1:43.72.

    The 4x100 team of Gino Gherardi, Massich, Jack Lunning and Mason McDonald was sixth in 49,05.

    Justin Walker placed eighth in the 800 in 2:15.72.

    Janezich placed sixth in the 3200 in 10:49.53.

    The 4x400 team of Arnhold, Walker, Taite Murden and Massich was sixth in 3:49.90.

    Alexander Henderson placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 40-5, and Vincent Marchetti placed eighth with a 36-4. Marchetti placed third in the discus with a toss of 125-6.

    Austin Valento was sixth in the pole vault at 11-6.

    On the girls side, Sartell won the team title with 172 points, followed by Duluth East with 139, Cambridge-Isanti 133, Chisago Lakes 130, then Hibbing with 62. Cloquet had 46, Hermantown 30 and Duluth Denfeld 14.

    Hibbing top eighth finishers were as follows:

    The 4x800 team of Jocelyn Strukel, Tara Hertling, Jorie Anderson and Mileena Sullivan placed first in 10:00.51.

    The 4x200 of Hattie Eskeli, Haley Mount, Rylee Moellering and Andrea Petroske was fifth in 1:59.00.

    Anderson placed fifth in the 1600 in 5:43.84.

    The 4x100 team of Olivia Theien, Mount, Isabella Zika and Petroske placed fifth in 56.40.

    Hertling placed third in the 800 in 2:27.63.

    Sullivan had a third-place finish in the 3200 in 11:35.87, followed by Strukel in fourth in 11:42.86.

    The 4x400 team of Gianna Figueroa, Strukel, Sullivan and Anderson was fifth in 4:26.90.

    Isabella Walto was sixth in the shot with a heave of 26-10.75. Walto was third in the discus with a toss of 90-10.

    Eskeli tied for third in the high jump at 4-8.

    Alizah Langher was seventh in the pole vault at 7-6.

    Hertling was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 31-9.
