BUHL—A variety of fun is planned for the Beach Blast in Buhl.

The annual summer outing is from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Stubler Beach.

New to this year’s event is sailboat racing, whereby participants race sailboats made of foil.

Other activities include games, raffles, and rock painting. Free hot dogs, along with chips and lemonade is available while supplies last.

“It’ll be a fun activity for the community, and whoever wants to get involved,” Taryn Burnett Youth Program Coordinator for St. Louis County Youth in Action said in a phone interview.

Colleen Port, a member of the Buhl Parks and Recreation Board talked about the collaboration between the Rec Board, St. Louis County Youth in Action.

“It’s a blessing to be able to work with the community on events like this, and with Youth in Action to provide an event for the citizens of the community and show support for one another,” Port said.

There’s also support from the community in the form of donations from individuals and businesses, and volunteers who help out with the event, she noted.

The Parks and Recreation Board and Youth in Action also work together to co-host an annual Halloween party that also has strong community support, Burnett noted.
