A $2,000 grant from the Nashwauk Area Community Fund (NACF) helped buy supplies for 5th and 6th grade science students in Nashwauk-Keewatin. N-K fifth grade teacher, Mr. Lysaker, planned to purchase science materials both disposable and reusable for the classroom. Items planned for purchase were microscopes, batteries and bulbs, magnets, soil, seeds, paint, paper, pulleys, weights and measures, roller coaster materials, rockets, chemistry supplies, and a wide variety of other materials that will improve learning for students. This grant will benefit at least 80 students each year.

The Nashwauk Area Community Fund is a community-based fund providing discretionary grants to projects and initiatives in the Nashwauk area to improve the quality of life for local citizens and provide a way for citizens and businesses to give to their local community. This fund serves nonprofit organizations in Nashwauk, Keewatin, Nashwauk Township, Buck Lake, Pengilly, Goodland and Swan Lake areas.

The NACF fall grant cycle is currently open for applications through September 30th. For more information about the Nashwauk Area Community Fund, or to apply for a grant, go to their website at www.nashwaukfund.org.
