'Jacket swimmers place 14th at Maroon & Gold Meet

MINNEAPOLIS—The Hibbing High School girls swimming team placed 14th at the University of Minnesota Maroon & Gold Meet in the Maroon Division Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center.

East Ridge won the meet with 556 points, followed by Rochester Century 333, Hudson, Wis., 262, Rosemount 238, Northfield 191, Rochester Mayo 164, Anoka 135, Eau Claire Memorial 101, St. Anthony Village 95, Chisago Lakes 68, St. Cloud Apollo 60, St. Peter 46, Princeton 41, then the Bluejackets at 24. Chaska had 31.

Raini Gibson was Hibbing’s highest placer, taking eighth in the 50 freestyle in 26.10 She placed 20th in the 100 butterfly (1:04.72).

Ginny Sandness, Gibson, Riley St. George and Naomi Ronning were 20th in the 200 medley (2:07.39); Ronning was 19th in the 200 freestyle (2:10.58); St. George was 19th in the 100 butterfly (1:07.73); Ronning 20th in the 500 freestyle (6:03.32); and Gibson, Ronning, St. George and Gretchen Hoertsch were 20th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.56)
