MOUNTAIN IRON—The undefeated Mountain Iron-Buhl football team took on a 3-1 Kelliher/Northome squad on Friday night.

The Rangers exploded for 63 points in the first half on their way to a 87-0 win.

Rangers Quarterback Micaden Clines had a monster night, running in six touchdowns, passing for a touchdown, and also running in a two-point conversion.

Overall, Rangers Head Coach Dan Zubich was happy with his squad on Friday night.

“We did some different things out there on offense and it really paid off,” Zubich said. “Our offensive line really opened things up and that led to some touchdowns.”

The Rangers didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard in the first quarter.

They started with the ball 1-and-10 on their own 27 yard line.

Clines took the first snap and found a wide-open Derik Dahl, who raced 73 yards to paydirt.

Jaeger Winkler kicked the extra point and it was a quick 7-0 Rangers lead.

MIB shut down the Mustangs down on defense and when they got the ball back, Clines took a snap and ran 22 yards to the endzone to make it 13-0.

Winckler kicked the extra point and it was a quick 14-0 Rangers lead.

MIB shut the Mustangs down again on defense and got the ball back on their own 33 yard line.

Clines then found a wide open Dylan Anderson, who brought the ball down to the Mustangs 27 yard line.

Clines then took the snap and ran it in from 27 yards out to make it a 20-0 Rangers lead with 3:49 left in the opening quarter.

    They weren’t done yet.

Duchamp came up with an interception and ran it back to midfield.

Clines then scored another TD running it in from 42 yards out.

Winkler kicked the extra point and it was a 27-0 Rangers lead with 2:03 left in the quarter.

Clines then ran a TD in from 60 yards out with 1:33 left in the quarter.

The Kick failed and the Rangers lead was 33.0.

On the next Mustangs possession, the ball was stripped away and recovered by the Rangers at the Northome/Kelliher 12 yard line.

Dahl took a hand-off and ran it in from the 12 yards out to make it a 39-0 Rangers lead.

He then ran in the two-point conversion to make it a 41-0 MIB lead at the end of the first quarter.

“We really ran the ball well,” Zubich said. “Our line really set things up for us.”

MIB came up with a trick play in the second quarter.

Duchamp took a snap and ended up pitching the ball to Clines, who ran 44 yards to the endzone.

The two-point conversion failed but the Rangers lead was 47-0.

MIB added to their lead with 5:38 left in the half when Clines found an open Duchamp from 22 yards out.

Clines ran in the two-point conversion and the MIB lead was 55-0.

The Rangers closed out the first half scoring when Clines hit Duchamp with a 31 yard pass to make it 61-0.

Dahl ran in the two point conversion and the Rangers led 63-0 at the half.

“The entire second half was played in running time.

“We got to play everybody in the second half,” Zubich said. “They all put the work in in practice and have earned the playing time.”

Jeff Tanksley ran it in from three yards out to increase the MIB lead to 69-0.

Rossi ran in the two-point conversion.

They picked up one more TD in the third quarter when Trey Niska ran it in to the endzone from 20 yards out.

Noah Fox caught the two-point conversion pass from Rossi.

The final Rangers touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Finley Isaacson ran it in from eight yards out, to make it 85-0.

Niska ran in the two-point conversion to close out the scoring.

“It was a good night, Zubich said. Everybody played and nobody got hurt. We have Blackduck next and Cherry after that. We better be ready.”
