METAIRIE, La. ( WGNO ) — The Humane Society of Louisiana reports that an injured rabbit named “Sammie” was rescued from bushes at a Denny’s parking lot in Metairie.

According to the Humane Society of Louisiana , Sammie had been living on the property for three years and was surviving solely because of kind employees who would feed her leftovers. Apparently, “Raisin Bran” was her favorite treat.

The Humane Society announced that the 3-and-a-half-year-old bunny was dumped in a Gentilly neighborhood when she was just three to four months old. The SPCA later microchipped and adopted her. Her leg had been broken, and she had a terrible limp. Soon after, Sammie was adopted. But the adopter dumped her in a Denny’s parking lot on Veterans Boulevard, where she was able to survive.

Recently, Lola & Friends Bunny Rescue of South Mississippi found and saved Sammie. According to the rescue, she was malnourished, full of parasites and limping. Her fur was also thin and discolored. Unfortunately, they had to amputate her leg, and she is now blind in one eye.

Sammie is now recuperating with the help of Lola & Friends Bunny Rescue of South Mississippi.
