Wenatchee family's baby struggles with rare kidney and brain cancer
WENATCHEE — The Villanueva family received the kind of news no parent ever wants to hear. Their 8-month-old son, Julian, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer known as atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT). This rare and malignant cancer is found in both Julian's kidney and brain, presenting a grim prognosis with a high likelihood of recurrence within a year, even with aggressive treatment.

First heat wave of the season will bring scorching temps in the 90s and 100s across the region
Excessive Heat Alerts are in place across all of Washington, most of Oregon and Idaho this week as triple-digit temperatures arrive during the first heat wave of the year. From Saturday to Friday, the Inland Northwest will be under either an Excessive Heat Warning or Advisory as daytime highs reach well into the 90s and triple digits, especially by Tuesday and Wednesday -- Spokane is under the warning. Sunday's forecast highs will trend in the low-to-high 90s for most of eastern Washington and North Idaho, with Spokane's high temperature expected to reach 96 degrees. However, places like Lewiston, Tri-Cities, and Vantage will cruise into the triple digits.

WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has issued evacuation orders for areas near the Beehive Fire west of Wenatchee.
