Genesee County voters asked to approve funding for senior services, MTA and 911
GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- Voters across the county are being asked to approve three millages and surcharges that they have supported in the past in the Aug. 6 primary election. The funding requests include a proposed $3 per-line telephone surcharge to support the county 911 system, renewal of 0.68-mill property tax for senior citizen services, and the reauthorization of a 1.2-mill property tax for the Mass Transporation Authority to support Your Ride services.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- Voters in five of the nine districts that make up the Genesee County Board of Commissioners have decisions to make in the Aug. 6 primary election. Wrong-way driver injured in rollover crash on I-69
A driver who was travelling eastbound on westbound lanes of Interstate 69 was severely injured in a crash Sunday night near Capac. A news release from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office states dispatchers received a call about a wrong-way driver around 9:30 p.m. Before deputies could arrive on the interstate, a rollover crash involving the driver was called in.

Michigan man killed after thrown from motorcycle into traffic sign during crash
(CBS DETROIT) - A 39-year-old Oakland County man was killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend, officials said. The incident happened at 2:42 a.m. on Saturday on Woodward Avenue at Osman Street in Pontiac.Authorities say the Waterford Township man was traveling north on Woodward Avenue while operating a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.The man failed to negotiate a curve, and the motorcycle left the roadway. He was then thrown from the motorcycle and struck a traffic sign. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The man allegedly was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. In addition, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this crash. The man's identity is being withheld pending next of kin, authorities said.

Flint man sentenced for dumping paint on girlfriend's property
FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - A Flint man who has been found guilty of domestic assault in which he did more than $100,000 in damage will spend up to 20 years in prison. Court records show 63-year-old Arthur Humphreys was sentenced on Monday to a minimum of 57 months in prison to a maximum of 20 years. Humphreys was credited with 342 days of time served.
