2 charged after crash leads to fight in Miami Twp.
Two men were charged for reportedly fighting a group of people, including one who was admitted to the hospital with a brain bleed, following a crash in Miami Twp. Jacob M. Bartellis, 24, of Harrison Twp. and Christopher D. Dewey, 33, of Kettering are both facing one count of felonious assault, according to Miamisburg Municipal Court records.

STORM CLEANUP CONTINUES IN CAMBRIDGE CITY
(Cambridge City, IN)--Cleanup will continue in parts of the Whitewater Valley Monday after a line of storms including strong straight-line winds swept through the area Sunday afternoon. Much of the damage was done in the Cambridge City area, where large trees came down onto structures and into power lines. The Wayne County Emergency Management Agency began checking properties in a grid pattern. No injuries were reported. Creitz Park has been closed. That’s where much of the damage occurred. As of Monday morning, Duke Energy’s website indicates that only 13 customers are still without power. Also Monday morning, the EMA was asking people with damage to report that damage through an online form that’s available on their Facebook page. The National Weather Service will be in the area Monday. Local officials say the damage does not appear to have been caused by a tornado.

RICHMOND, Ind. — Three juveniles have been arrested in Richmond after police say they recently attacked a homeless person and vandalized a local parking garage. The Richmond Police Department announced Tuesday the arrests of three juveniles in connection to a vandalism and attack on a homeless person who was sleeping in a local parking garage. Police credited “observant citizens” and an “intensive investigation” for the arrests.

MOST AREA SCHOOLS FALL BELOW STATE AVERAGE FOR ILEARN PROFICIENCY
(Whitewater Valley)--ILEARN results were released Wednesday by the Indiana’s Department of Education. Here’s how some of the area schools outside of Richmond fared. The statewide average of third through eighth graders who tested proficient in both math and English was 31%. Only a handful of area school corporations met or exceeded that mark. Union County, Randolph Southern, and Monroe Central were all slightly above the 31% mark. Northeastern and Centerville barely missed that mark at 30%. All other area schools were between 20 and 30% proficiency with the exception of Randolph Eastern which was, by far, the lowest-performing school at ten percent proficiency.
