Special Olympics Launches New "Young Athletes" Program
The program is designed for children ages two to seven with and without intellectual disabilities. (Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties, Ind.) - Special Olympics Indiana - Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties is thrilled to announce the introduction of their newest initiative: Special Olympics’ Young Athletes program. Special Olympics, Inc. first piloted the program in 2005-06 in eleven countries, including the United States. In the United States, programs were piloted in Texas, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Delaware, and California. The program will be the first in the state of Indiana, setting a new precedent for early childhood sports and inclusion.
The Force is With Students at Jedi Knight Academy
Students from Southeast Indiana recently gathered at Oldenburg Academy for the three-day camp. (Ripley County, Ind.) - Genesis: Pathways to Success resumed its A Summer of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) initiative this week with Jedi Knight Academy. 36 students from schools across Southeast Indiana assembled at Oldenburg Academy to satiate their desires to enter the world of Star Wars and become Jedi Masters.

COUNCIL TO ADDRESS URANUS
(Richmond, IN)--On Friday, Kicks 96 and 101.7 The Point News reported that Richmond Common Council will again be addressing the proposed Smith Hill housing project when they meet Monday night. But that’s not the only development project on the agenda. Council will also be addressing a zoning change that’s necessary to advance the Uranus project at the former New Creations property on the state line. The opening date has now been pushed back. Uranus was supposed to be open already, but its website now says the store is targeted to open by December but not be fully complete for about a year. Council meets at 7 Monday night.
