New Dearborn County Catholic High School Opens in August
(Aurora, IN) – Fiat Classical Academy, a new high school in Aurora, will open its doors to freshmen and sophomores on August 15. The school, officially granted the title of Catholic by the Archbishop of Indianapolis and issued performance-based accreditation by the Indiana State Board of Education, is the latest in a nationwide movement of classical schools. Distinctive elements of classical education include a greater reliance on classic and primary sources, incorporation of Socratic conversation in addition to lectures, comprehensive integration across the curriculum, an emphasis on learning Latin, and a focus on beauty, goodness and truth.
RCCF Unveils New Mural in Versailles
(Versailles, IN) – The Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF) is pleased to announce the completion of a new mural in the Town of Versailles, a project made possible through a successful collaboration with the Town of Versailles and Main Street Versailles. The mural, titled “Stargazers,” was created by artist Judy Eaton, a former RCCF board member, and funded by the Ripley County Endowment for the Arts.

Stella F. Weberding, age 101 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2024, surrounded by her family at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, Indiana. Born August 10, 1922, in Hamburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Andrew and Frances (Nee: Lamping) Bedel. She married Robert J. Weberding on June 25, 1947, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Hamburg and he preceded her in death in 2011. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and its ladies society.
SMITH HILL DEVELOPMENT SENT BACK TO PLAN COMMISSION WITH REVISIONS
(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Common Council met Monday night and briefly addressed a zoning ordinance involving the proposed Smith Hill development near South 37th and Backmeyer Roads. "This proposal maintains the detached single-family houses that were included in the previous request while eliminating the apartments that were proposed on the northwest portion of the development along South 37th. Additionally, the current request excludes all commercial exceptions, which eliminates the day care facility that was originally included, said the city’s planning director. The issue goes back to the Plan Commission March 24. It will then likely come back to council on August 5.

Keith A. Jewett, 69, of Dillsboro passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024. Keith was born on Thursday, November 11, 1954 in Milan; son of Thomas “Tom” and Dorothy (Block) Jewett. He was the third of four children. Keith grew up in Dillsboro and was a graduate of Dillsboro High School, class of 1973.

Herbert Francis Rosenberger, age 81, of Brookville, passed away Thursday, July 11th, 2024. Born February 7, 1943, in Franklin County, he was the Son of Otto A. and Clara J. Sauerland Rosenberger. He married Roberta Race on May 30, 1964, at St. Michael’s in Brookville, she preceded in death on July 16, 2006.
