Man gets 3 years in death of fiancée who went missing in Ohio in 2011
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — The fiancé of an Ohio art student who went missing nearly 13 years ago has been sentenced to three years in prison. John Carter was sentenced Thursday. He had pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal. Carter had been charged with two counts of murder when he was arrested in March 2023. The charges stemmed from the August 2011 disappearance of Katelyn Markham, who was last seen at her home in Fairfield, Ohio. Skeletal remains identified as Markham’s were found in 2013 in a wooded area in Cedar Grove, Indiana, about 20 miles west of her home.
Alabama man sentenced after setting father's home on fire, killing family pets
Federal authorities say an Alabama man will spend nearly five years in prison after he was found guilty of setting his father's home on fire and killing multiple pets. Tommy Harrison Sr., 34, was sentenced to 57 months in prison and two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to crossing state lines to commit arson.
MAN SENTENCED FOR 2013 MURDER
The man who was responsible for the death of a young woman whose body was found along the Whitewater River in Franklin County received the maximum prison sentence yesterday. But John Carter will spend only three years behind bars because of a plea deal. The father of Katelyn Markham spoke at the sentencing yesterday. Katelyn’s body was found in 2013 just south of Brookville.

RICHMOND APARTMENT COMPLEX EXPANSION
A Richmond apartment complex is expanding. Right now, there’s a 60-unit waiting list at Chester Heights Apartments on Chester Boulevard. Three new buildings are planned that will create 78 additional apartment units. As part of that expansion, the city is selling Berryfield Park to the EDC for a dollar. The EDC, in turn, will sell the land back to Chester Heights for $23,000. Those funds will be invested into the playground and other facilities at Middlefork Reservoir.
