River Report: ADFG announces opening day for salmon fishing around Fairbanks
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game has announced when salmon fishing can commence around Fairbanks as well as the selective gear that can be used. Last week we saw the first salmon swimming into interior rivers with the forecast for chum looking positive. As salmon continue to creep into the interior the Department of Fish and Game has released all the details on what will be allowed to catch this year’s salmon.

Homer harbor expansion study receives full funding for second year
The City of Homer secured funding for the second year of a study looking into the feasibility of expanding its harbor. Gov. Mike Dunleavy signed the state capital budget on June 28 that put nearly $288,523 towards the study to pay for additional costs. Denali Flightseeing Tour Makes Emergency Landing
A K2 Aviation flight made an emergency landing near Tokositna Glacier in Denali National Park and Preserve on Friday evening after losing power. Park Rangers received a call at about 5 pm on Friday from K2 Aviation reporting that one of their planes made an emergency landing while on a flightseeing tour. According to Suzanne Rust with K2 Aviation, there was no scheduled glacier landing with the tour. The plane landed in an area of thick alder bushes near the toe of the glacier near Mt. Goldie.
