Joppa man arrested for pool theft
A Joppa man was arrested last week after allegedly stealing a swimming pool. Metropolis Police received a call alleging a man had taken a swimming pool from the Dollar General on East 8th Street. According to the report, the caller knew the man in question and identified him as 52-year-old Dwayne J. Dillon of Joppa. Officers in the area located Dillon and he was reportedly in possession of the pool.

SWATTING INCIDENT IN CARRIER MILLS SUNDAY UNDER INVESTIGATION
Authorities in Saline County are currently investigating a disturbing swatting incident that unfolded recently. The incident began with a misleading phone call received by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday night around 8:15 PM. The caller falsely claimed to have shot and killed his father, adding that he was armed, barricaded in a residence near Carrier Mills High School, and prepared to harm any law enforcement officer who responded.

Shawnee Community College Athletes Recognized for Academics
ULLIN, IL (July 22, 2024)—Shawnee Community College is pleased to announce that several athletes have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 2023-24 All-Academic Teams. This is an effort to recognize athletes nationwide for their outstanding work in the classroom. 12,245 student-athletes received the honor this year, including 11 from SCC.
