Public Service Commission to take up plan to add new fossil fuels to energy mix
ATLANTA – Georgia energy regulators already have approved a request by Georgia Power for a significant increase in electrical generating capacity to meet the needs of a growing state. But the state Public Service Commission (PSC) still must sign off on a key component of the Atlanta-based utility’s plan: a proposal to build three new “dual-fuel” turbines at Plant Yates near Newnan. Vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Rincon leaves one person seriously injured
RINCON, Ga. (WSAV) – The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash happened on S. Columbia Ave. near Babcock Furniture in Rincon around 11 a.m. on Saturday. Officials say the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Both lanes of Highway 21 were closed for investigation. It has since re-opened.

Woman’s death in Flagler Beach leads to man’s arrest in Georgia, police say
FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – A person of interest has been arrested in Georgia following the suspicious death of a woman in Flagler Beach, according to police. The investigation began Thursday, the Flagler Beach Police Department said in a news release dated Saturday. The woman who died was identified as Sally J. Byrd, 66, who resided in the Pebble Beach Village community, the release states. Byrd’s cause of death had not yet been determined at the time of this report, police said.
