METUCHEN – A mixed-use development with a commercial business on the first floor and three apartments on the second floor has been proposed for a Main Street site.

Applicant NHF Properties LLC will be seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with bulk variances from the Metuchen Planning Board on Aug. 1 for the project.

The applicant will be seeking variances for minimum lot depth where 100 feet is required and 99.8 feet is proposed and minimum front yard setback where 32.5 feet is required and 10.2 feet is proposed, among other issues.

The applicant is looking to demolish and remove all existing structures at 136 Main St., not far from the intersections with Brunswick and Myrtle avenues, to construct a new two-story, mixed-use structure. The building on site appears to house several small businesses.

The project also calls for a partially covered parking lot in the rear of the building with a shared driveway and parking between 136 Main St. and 140 Main St.

The application has not yet been posted on the borough's website.
