Hunt retires from PFD; appointed to MCEMA Director
PERU, IN- The Peru Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Herb Hunt on his retirement from PFD and recent appointment to Miami County EMA Director. Herb Hunt joined PFD on March 2nd, 2003. During his career, he obtained many certifications and was assigned to station 2 for the last several years. Herb has a “never quit” attitude and good work ethic. When push came to shove, Herb was the one you wanted watching your back. Herb’s last shift was Friday July 19, 2024. The department would like to thank Herb for the years of service and continuing contributions to the community.
Week-long saturation patrol results in 70 arrests on 136 criminal charges
NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA – From June 14th to June 20th, the Indiana State Police, in collaboration with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Kokomo Police Department, and Rochester Police Department, conducted a highly effective week-long saturation patrol. This concerted effort was aimed at enforcing traffic laws, stemming the flow of illegal narcotics into Hoosier communities, and targeting aggressive, distracted, and impaired drivers.

ROCHESTER — From June 14 to 20, the Indiana State Police conducted a week-long saturation patrol in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies. Participating agencies included the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Kokomo Police Department, and Rochester Police Department.
2024 Miss Circus City Queen and Court announced
PERU, IN- The 2024 Miss Circus City Scholarship Program was held on Sunday, June 30th inside the Peru Amateur Circus Arena on North Broadway in Peru. The program provides young ladies in Miami County between the ages of 7-22 the opportunity for scholarships and other prizes. The program consists of a Princess, ages 7-11, Junior Queen, ages 12-16, and Queen, ages 17-22. They award over $2,500 in scholarships each year and the winners and their courts are involved with the Circus City Festival throughout the week, attending and helping at all performances. The Queen will then go on to represent CCFI in the Indiana State Festival Program.
