Residents in Kendall and South Dade are receiving solicitation notices for water testing left at their homes potentially from companies trying to sell water filters.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department says these notices have nothing to do with them and that water filters are NOT needed to use Miami-Dade’s high quality drinking water.

Customers who have questions about their drinking water or want to request a free water test can call Miami-Dade's water department.

“I want everyone to know that Miami-Dade County’s water is excellent and meets all national drinking water standards,” said WASD Director Roy Coley. “We test the water at our accredited labs more than 150,000 times a year. If you ever have a question about the quality of your drinking water, you should contact our Lab Division staff directly.”

Customers who have questions about their drinking water or want to request a free water test should call 786-552-4738 if they live north of Southwest Eighth Street or 786-552-4181 if you live south of Southwest Eighth Street.

WASD also issues its Water Quality Report every year which they say is satisfactory. Coley says the water department provides 300-million gallons of clean drinking water to 2.8 million customers every day. He says it is tested and meets all national standards.
