Miami will soon be home to a new restaurant from Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa , the culinary force behind the two-Michelin-starred Lisbon restaurant Alma . Sereia will open soon in Coconut Grove , at 3540 Main Highway (formerly occupied by Navé Trattoria ), according to recent coverage by the South Florida Business Journal .

It’s the chef’s first restaurant in the United States , opening in partnership with Sault Hospitality , the hospitality group founded by Jourdan Binder , Sven Vogtland , and Alan Drummond .

“I fell in love with American culture after an exchange program I participated in during high school, followed by culinary school,” Henrique Sá Pessoa said in a statement quoted in the Business Journal coverage. “When I started visiting Miami, I fell in love with the beaches, the vibrant culture and recently the growing hospitality scene.”

The restaurant will serve a “seafood-forward” menu featuring Portuguese cuisine, tapas, and cocktails. Its décor will take cues from coastal Portugal (with “natural woods, blue and green fabrics, and curved furniture,” says the Business Journal), seating 125 guests in its combined indoor and outdoor space. There will be a full bar, a crudo bar, and a private dining room.

“When we found the Sereia space, Sven, Alan and I immediately thought about Henrique,” Jourdan Binder, partner at Sereia and Sault Hospitality, says in the coverage. “Sereia is the collective of what all of the partners do well – harmonizing all elements for a complete dining experience.”
