Founded by Akino and Jamila West , Rosie’s has established a strong following with its Southern cuisine (which has earned the restaurant the Michelin Guide ’s Bib Gourmand recognition for two years running). After operating in several locations on a temporary basis, Rosie’s is preparing to close at 162 NW 73 rd Street , in Miami ’s Little River neighborhood, before moving onto its permanent location, says recent coverage by the Miami Herald .

“[Akino] West and his wife Jamila started Rosie’s in 2020 out of their Copper Door Bed & Breakfast in Overtown, and it quickly became a pandemic favorite,” says the Miami Herald coverage. “When the Copper Door closed, they brought the concept to the 7th Café in Allapattah on the weekend. Rosie’s then moved to its current outdoor spot, a Little River lot behind the restaurant’s future home.”

The restaurant posted an announcement of the closing on its Instagram page recently.

“This isn’t goodbye, this is a ‘see you later,’” the post says. “Our goal has always been to push ourselves to achieve the restaurant’s full potential. The mission is to provide the highest quality hospitality, service, and food, executed with love and intention.”

The restaurant’s last day in its current space will be May 12, but the Instagram post hints at various pop-ups and other projects to be expected during the transition.

What Now reached out to Akino West on Monday to inquire about plans for the new location.

“We can’t wait to open our permanent location,” West told What Now. “We will share more information as it is available.”

In the meantime, follow @rosiesmia on Instagram for updates on the restaurant’s opening in its permanent home.
