It’s been just over a month since Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater three-star offensive tackle Jaden Wilkerson committed to Miami, and it’s safe to say he’s beyond happy with his decision.

“I love it,” Wilkerson told CaneSport. “I feel like I found my home. I’m committed with a whole bunch of great players, and we’re going to build something at Miami.”

Wilkerson is one of the 18 members of Miami’s 2025 recruiting class, which is the 11th-ranked group nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

Wilkerson is familiar with several members of the 2025 class who also hail from the Central Florida area. He is also looking forward to building tighter bonds with the other commits he has not met just yet.

“A lot of the guys are people that I know already,” Wilkerson said. “Guys like Elijah Melendez, Gavin Nix, Demetrius Campbell and Max Buchanan are all guys that I’ve had relationships with already, and we’re cool. I’m ready to get to work with people I know and with people I don’t know. I’m ready to meet my new teammates and get to work.”

He’ll have the opportunity to do so later this month when he makes his return to campus for the first time since his official visit in June.

“I’m ready to meet all my future teammates and build relationships,” the Miami commit said. “Just have a good time with that, which I’ll be battling and fighting with over the next three to four years.”

Throughout this summer leading into his senior season, Wilkerson has been working to improve all areas of his game. From the weight room to on-field mechanics, the 6-foot-5.5 330-pounder is hoping to take his game to the next level.

“I’m just working on getting stronger and faster,” Wilkerson said. “I’m getting more technical with my kicks and just becoming an all-around better player. Working day in and day out and having three or four workouts a day sometimes. Always trying to get after it.”

Aiding those efforts have been Miami offensive line coaches Alex Mirabal and Edwin Pata. While Wilkerson’s conversion with the Hurricanes staff ranges from a variety of topics, one thing that is always talked about is his preparation for the next level.

“We always talk ball, no matter if it’s my stance, my pad level, or stuff like that,” Wilkerson said. “I’m always learning new things from them.”

    CaneSport’s take

As one of the first pledges on the board this summer for Miami, Wilkerson has remained solid on his commitment after choosing the Hurricanes over UCF, Syracuse, and Rutgers. This upcoming season will be crucial for the development of Wilkerson, who is the No. 78 ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
