A Florida lottery player just missed the Mega Millions jackpot but still walked away a big winner.

Someone in Defuniak Springs won $1 million after matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball in the drawing Tuesday, Sept. 10, narrowly missing the estimated $800 million grand prize.

The lucky ticket was bought at a Big Boss Store on U.S. Highway 331 in the Panhandle, the Florida Lottery said.

The winning numbers were 1, 2, 16, 24, 66 and gold Mega Ball 6, according the Mega Millions website. The Megaplier option was 4X.

A Mega Millions ticket sold in Texas matched all six numbers to win the $800 million jackpot, results show.

“The huge prize is by far the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in the month of September, the seventh largest jackpot in the game’s history, and just the third won this year,” according to the lottery game’s website.

The game’s jackpot hasn’t been won since June 4 when someone in Illinois scored a $552 million prize with a ticket purchased online, according to Mega Millions.

There were also $1 million winners in California , New York and Washington in the Tuesday drawing, results show.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Sept. 13 with an estimated $20 million jackpot.

Defuniak Springs is about a 50-mile drive northwest from Panama City Beach.
