    Poll: Who should be the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week? (Oct. 7)

    South Florida’s top athletes were recognized last week in the sports of bowling, cross-country, golf and volleyball.

    This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week from bowling, golf, swimming and volleyball in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

    Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Oct. 10, around 10 p.m. You may vote as often as you like until then.

    Here are the candidates:

    Benjamin Cupid, Plantation swimming: won two events (100 free, 200 free) in a swim meet against Cardinal Gibbons and South Broward.

    Chloe Cupid, Plantation swimming: won two events (200 free, 100 butterfly) in a swim meet against Cardinal Gibbons and South Broward.

    Cole Durham, Miami Ransom Everglades golf: won medalist honors with 2-under par 33 to lead Ransom Everglades boys’ golf over Miami Westminster Christian and Miami Palmetto at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

    Krystal Fernandez, Miami COHEA bowling: won the girls’ individual title while leading the Bulldogs to the girls’ team title at the Independent and Charter Schools Bowling Invitational at Bird Bowl in Miami.

    Arya Luthra, Miami Gulliver Prep golf: won medalist honors with an even par 35 in a tie with the MAST girls’ team at Crandon Golf Course in Key Biscayne. This is Luthra’s second medalist result and her third sub-40 round.

    Ruth Martinez, Doral Divine Savior volleyball: earned MVP honors in leading the Sharks to the title at the Florida Christian Volleyball Invitational. She had 25 kills and 10 digs as Divine Savior went 4-0, beating Miami TERRA, Miami Ferguson, Miami Mater Lakes Academy and Weston Sagemont. Prior to the tournament, she also helped Divine Savior come from behind to beat Miami Gulliver Prep in five sets.

    Claudia Medina, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons swimming: won the 500 free event and was part of two winning relays (200 medley, 400 free) to help the Chiefs defeat Plantation and South Broward.

    Anne Marie Perez, Miami Riviera Prep volleyball: had 10 kills and 7 blocks in a win over Coral Reef; had 8 kills and 4 blocks in a win over Fort Pierce Central; had 5 kills and 3 blocks in a loss to Jensen Beach; had 6 kills and 2 blocks in a win over Winter Park Lake Howell: 4 kills and 2 blocks in a win over New Smyrna Beach; had 5 kills and 5 blocks in a win over Jensen Beach.

    Eduardo Perez, Miami Columbus golf: was runner-up at the Boys’ Catholic Quad Golf Tournament at Miami Springs Golf & Country Club to help the Explorers finish second.

    Joysbeliz Reyes, Miami Southridge bowling: won the girls’ individual title while leading the Spartans to the girls’ team title at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Bowling Tournament at Bird Bowl in Miami.

    Tajhari Williams, Hollywood South Broward swimming: won two events (100 back, 50 free) and was part of two winning relays (200 medley, 400 free) to help the Bulldogs defeat Cardinal Gibbons and Plantation.
