Are Tri-Rail and Brightline running? How Hurricane Milton is changing Florida trains

Tri-Rail, the commuter train that runs from the Miami airport to Palm Beach County, said it’s suspending service on Wednesday and Thursday due to “severe weather conditions anticipated in South Florida from Hurricane Milton.”

Service will run through the last scheduled train on Tuesday night, according to the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, which runs the service.

Tri-Rail said “crossing gates must be secured whenever winds of 39 miles per hour are forecasted.”

Train service is scheduled to resume Friday morning.

In addition, Brightline also is pausing service between West Palm Beach and Orlando on Oct. 9 and 10. The company said it will resume normal operations after track conditions are assessed once the storm has passed.

The train company asked passengers to check their emails for updates or visit Brightline’s website. Trains running between South Florida stations — there are 14 round trips up to West Palm Beach — will continue on both days.

On Oct. 8, Brightline’s 7:45 p.m. northbound departure from Miami will end in West Palm Beach. All other Tuesday service will run as scheduled.

Amtrak is also suspending service between Jacksonville and Miami through Thursday, Oct. 10.
