The possibly ‘serious or life-threatening’ reason a Miami company recalled corn pancakes

A Doral company has recalled the sweet corn pancakes it made for a nearby company after a labeling mistake created a dangerous situation for some consumers.

Cachapa de Maiz sweet corn pancakes from Trimar USA’s Los Andes Foods has wheat. The label put on Cachapa de Maiz by manufacturer Tipical Latin Food Corp. doesn’t list wheat, which is an allergen, among the ingredients.

This could lead to people with a wheat allergy eating the pancakes and, as Tipical’s FDA-posted recall notice says, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”

Lot Nos. 2622404 to 2772412 have been recalled. Find the lot number on the vacuum sealed wrap.

If you have these and there’s absolutely, positively zero chance of them being eaten by someone with a wheat allergy, carry on as normal. Otherwise, call Trimar USA at 786-703-6161 to discuss returning the pancakes or to get any other questions answered.
