I’ve had this Amazon best-selling winter coat for over three years, and it’s my cold weather go-to

One thing about me: I’m very picky about my winter coats. Sure, I have a couple of coats on hand that are just for looks, but when it comes to an everyday, all-purpose coat, I prefer something a bit more utilitarian, and I have a list of nonnegotiables.

First, the coat has to have a hood. I live in the South, where it rains during all four seasons — and since I like to straighten my naturally curly hair from time to time, I don’t want all my work to go down the drain if I get caught in the rain. (If you know, you know.) Second, it has to have functional pockets, which is somewhat of a hot commodity in women’s fashion nowadays. Third, it needs to be something I can dress up or down. It also needs to be easy to wash. (“Dry clean only?” Hard pass.) And lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it has to be comfortable enough for everyday wear.

Enter the WenVen Women’s Cotton Military Jacket , which checks every single one of those boxes (and then some). I bought one of these best-selling jackets on Amazon over three years ago and have been wearing it nearly every day during the winter months — and it still looks like new!

One thing I love about this coat is its slim, feminine fit. It’s structured similar to an anorak (Oasis reunion, anyone?), and there’s a drawstring on the inside that you can use to give it a flattering silhouette. As far as sizing, some reviewers have noted that this coat runs a little big. However, if you’re a larger-chested person (like I am), I recommend going a size up from what you normally wear so you can wear sweaters and thicker shirts underneath.

The coat has multiple pockets on both the outside and the inside, perfect for when you’re running errands but don’t feel like lugging around a purse or bag. It has a zipper closure with a snap-button tab overlay, and the detachable drawstring hood zips on and off (though personally, I have never removed mine). To top it off, the snug knit cuffs on this coat provide plenty of warmth on extra-chilly days.

I got this coat in black, but it comes in six other colors: green, army green, khaki, coffee brown, navy blue and a deep wine red. It’s made of a 100% cotton shell with a polyester lining, and you can toss it right in the washing machine when it needs cleaning. (You can technically tumble-dry this coat on low, but I prefer to let mine air-dry as the hardware on the coat can cause a bit of a racket in the dryer.)

And I’m clearly not the only one who loves this jacket, either — over 700 five-star Amazon ratings seem to agree with my assessment. Multiple customers love the “great quality” of this coat, with one reviewer remarking that it “looks more expensive than it is.” Other folks have praised the sturdy fabric, plethora of pockets, comfortable fit and affordable price point of this WenVen coat (it’s less than $60, by the way!). “Exactly what I wanted,” said another reviewer . “Highly recommend.”

All in all, I couldn’t be happier with this jacket. I can wear it with literally any outfit in my closet, whether that’s a simple T-shirt and leggings or a business-casual dress for the office. In my opinion, it’s hard to find a better, more functional everyday winter coat than this one — especially for under $60.
