The cold front sweeping over Florida is doing more than bringing a chill to the air — it’s steering any potential new storms away.

The National Hurricane Center said there’s a low chance that the disturbance in the Atlantic could develop into a tropical depression or storm anytime soon. As of Friday night, the likelihood of formation was at 30% for the next 2 or 7 days.

While forecasters said development is “not expected,” the system could bring some rain as it moves quickly west over the Caribbean this weekend.

The other disturbance in the Caribbean was named potential tropical cyclone 15 on Friday evening. The initial cone from the hurricane center shows a track directly into the coast of Belize on Saturday afternoon as the next named storm of the season — Tropical Storm Nadine.

The system could bring 4 to 8 inches of rain to Belize, Guatemala and the Yucatan Peninsula as well as low-grade tropical-storm-force winds.
