PRATT, W.Va. -- The Kanawha Valley community of Pratt is set to host its annual Paint Creek Ride and fall festival on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.

The annual event brings visitors and residents together, acting as both a seasonal fair and a yearly homecoming.

    Paint Creek Fall Ride

The day begins with the annual Paint Creek Bike Ride, first started in 2014. The outing follows the scenic Paint Creek road in Kanawha and Fayette counties.

Participants may choose to participate in one of two rides of varying lengths. The first, a 30-mile trip, runs from Pratt to the unincorporated Fayette County town of Mahan and back. A longer 60-mile route continues from Mahan to the town of Pax, then back to Pratt.

The cost for the Paint Creek Fall Ride is $45 and includes a complimentary event shirt (while supplies last) and a voucher for lunch at the Pratt Fall Festival. Refreshments will also be available at both turnaround spots, organizers said. Registration can be made beginning at 8 a.m. on Sept. 28.

More information on the ride can be found on Facebook or by emailing prattfallride@gmail.com.

    Pratt Fall Festival

The annual Pratt Fall Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade and opening ceremony. Lineup for the parade begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Hansford Ball Field.

Saturday’s festival – now in its 39th year -- includes vendors, children’s activities, live entertainment and more.

Musical performances from local bands including the Weekend Warriors, Josh Pantry and the Exiles take the main stage at various times throughout the day. A children’s section will feature inflatables, pumpkin painting, balloon animals and face painting.

Several food vendors will also be on hand at the festival. Handley Baptist Church will sell hot dogs and Gallagher Nazarene Church will offer barbecue for purchase. Other food will be sold by Pratt catering business Holt’s Jewell and Company.

Multiple vendors will have items for purchase, and residents will offer their own wares at local yard sales.

The Pratt Fall Festival wraps up at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28.

More information on Saturday's events is available on Facebook.
