CHESAPEAKE, W.Va. -- A group that ensures children in the upper Kanawha Valley have a bright Christmas will host a three-day fundraising event in the coming months.

The UKV Grinch Christmas Fundraiser will sponsor a photo and Small Business Saturday event on Nov. 1-3, 2024. The bazaar will be held at the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department, 12408 MacCorkle Ave. in Chesapeake.

Portrait sessions will be held all three days at the firehouse. Photo certificates cost $10 and are on sale through Oct. 24. Guests will receive a photo package that includes eight wallet, two 5x7, two 8x10, and one 10x1 photograph, organizers said. Sunday’s sessions will also include visits by the Grinch and Santa.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a community small business and flea market bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Chesapeake Fire building. Local entrepreneurs and individuals may preorder tables through Oct. 28. Spots cost $10 for one table or $15 for two.

Concessions will be available during the Nov. 2 sale. Hot dogs or barbecue sandwiches with chips and a drink can be purchased for $7. The group will also accept baked goods or other donations to sell at the event.

Proceeds from all three days will help purchase Christmas gifts for children in the upper Kanawha Valley.

This is wonderful. As the world is going bonkers at times, there are still humane groups to bring joy to needy🙏
