EAST BANK, W.Va. -- This upper Kanawha Valley town may be small (population 810 as of 2022, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau), but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do here.

Officials with the town recently announced several upcoming events. Here are a few.

    Trunk-or-Treat

The community’s annual trunk-or-treat event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The event, which runs from 6-7:30 p.m., will take place at East Bank Middle School’s Calvert Field.

This sweet event comes during some bitter times for both East Bank Middle School and the football field.

Concrete home stands were demolished at the field earlier this year after engineers found them structurally unsound.

Last week, the Kanawha County Board of Education voted the close East Bank Middle School beginning with the 2025-26 school year. Students from the school will be bused to DuPont Middle School, approximately 10 miles away.

    Food Truck Sunday

The East Bank community held its first Food Truck Sunday on Oct. 6, with much fanfare.

“Thank you for making our first food truck day a success,” officials said in a statement.

In November, the new tradition continues, as a second Food Truck Sunday will be hosted on Nov. 3.

The previous event featured foods from Triple B Eatery, BG’s, Hinode Hibachi and Sunset Slush.

“A list of [November] food trucks will be released soon,” officials said.

Food Truck Sunday takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the field beside East Bank’s Dollar General on Nov. 3.

    Christmas Parade

Finally, the community’s annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The parade is set to begin at 1 p.m. It will feature community members, businesses, church groups and other local organizations.

Officials said that more details about the town’s Christmas Parade would be forthcoming.

More information on these events can be found on the town of East Bank’s Facebook page.
