  • Chauvin and his partner, Ellen Jensen, attacked a woman named Patricia Day three years before Derek murdered George Floyd. They used unnecessary force during Day's arrest on suspicion of DWI. Chauvin knelt on her back, which is his "signature pose," while Day was handcuffed, resulting in a broken tooth, ankle sprain, and arm/shoulder pain. Day is seeking at least $9 million in compensation—the city of Minneapolis and other parties are named in the lawsuits for allowing Chauvin’s conduct. WGN9
