It was you swipe left soon immediately you've been matched right away then you exchange messages back forth whether this person is worth meeting. In the age of coronavirus and variants, human-to-human touch has paused in the 2020s.

The dating app is a video speed dating experience(for Gen Z are/or not familiar with speed dating) within 45 minutes of individuals communicating with each other. Filter Off founder Zach Schleien talks about the change in online dating since the lockdown, his experience with dating apps, why video speed dating, sharing the app's Tuesday virtual event.

Newsbreak: So, Zach, when you got the idea for Filter Off, what changed about online dating since lockdown in 2020?

    ZS:

Once the pandemic hit, singles felt more isolated than ever. During the pandemic, we have quickly realized that video first dating has become the solution to many of these problems.

NB: Did the idea for Filter Off play a role from your experience with dating apps?

    ZS:

I created Filter Off because I was sick and tired of going on bad in-person first dates. So before meeting up in person, I started asking my matches if they’d be open to video chatting.

NB: Why video speed dating? Is there a story behind your experience with non-video speed dating?

    ZS:

You know how it works -- the endless swiping, the fake profiles, and bad first dates. I discovered video chatting with my matches first rather than messaging allowed me to get to know the person.

NB: Last question, why host a virtual event on Chinese New Year?

    ZS:

Regardless of religion or ethnicity, Chinese New Year is a widely observed holiday, and what better way than to start your new year by finding love?
