South Bend-based Lawson-Fisher Associates announced the promotion of Dan Delgado to director of the transportation department.

Delgado replaces vice president Mike Guzik, who will shift his focus to administrative duties.

Delgado previously served as senior civil engineer of transportation. He joined Lawson-Fisher in 1998 after graduating from Notre Dame University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

“I’m one of the very few people I know of, and the only one of all my friends, who is still with the same company they started at after college,” Delgado said in a press release .

Delgado earned his professional engineering license in 2002.

“Dan has had significant impact on LFA fostering and enhancing our reputation in central and northern Indiana,” Paul Hummel, Lawson-Fisher president, said. “We are confident in his abilities to move the Lawson-Fisher transportation department forward for many years to come.”

Delgado’s experience at Lawson-Fisher includes work on bridge rehabilitation and replacements, interchange reconstructions, small structure improvements projects, and roadway reconstruction projects. He said the US 35 corridor project in La Porte, slated for completion in 2027, is his crowning accomplishment thus far.

As transportation director, Delgado plans to foster team collaboration. “I’m always asking people for their thoughts and getting input from others,” he said. “I want to receive feedback and hope to give staff the freedom to try out new ideas.”

Delgado is also a member of Lawson-Fishers’ board of directors. He contributes to ASCE (The American Society of Civil Engineers) activities. Delgado designed his Mishawaka home, which includes geothermal energy and solar panels.

Lawson-Fisher Associates was established in 1971. The engineering firm provides services to various sectors, working on city, county and federal projects.
