Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) took a veiled shot at President Joe Biden and said he is "behind Trump in all our polling [in Michigan]" in a clip from a donor video call obtained by the New York Times. Slotkin is running for U.S. Senate in Michigan .

“Right now, President Biden is behind Trump in all of our polling and this Senate race is in a dead heat,” Slotkin said. She also referenced Sen. Debbie Stabenow's (D-MI) retirement, saying she's "doing a radical thing and passing the torch at 70 years old and being deliberate about it."

Slotkin put extra emphasis on "radical thing" in her statement, seemingly referencing Biden's refusal to step down despite Democrats' age-related concerns for him. She did not mention Biden specifically, but it was a clear reference to the president, who has been pushed to make way for a younger candidate.

The Michigan Democrat also created urgency in the call for herself, saying her race is a "dead heat," though two June polls and one July poll showed her at least 2 points ahead and as much as 5 points. She's expected to face former Republican Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers.
