FDA Issues Another Cucumber Recall, Potential Bacterial Concerns

Summer is the perfect season for some of the best fruits and veggies. For that reason, it’s important to stay aware of any recalls that may affect these products. One of these recalls includes cucumbers. The affected batch comes from a company in Ohio and were sold by Wiers Farm. From here, they were distributed in Walmarts across the following states : Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. But why were these cucumbers recalled in the first place?

Turns out, the cucumbers may contain Listeria . When consumed, it can lead to an illness that is particularly harmful for those who are pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised. Common symptoms include fever, chills, muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, and more. The FDA urges folks to check if they have any of the affected products in their homes.

There are two products that fall under this cucumber recall:

• Whole cucumbers with a pack date of June 5, 2024
• Bagged salad cucumbers with pack dates of June 5, 2024 or June 6, 2024

At the present time of this writing, there have been no official illnesses or complaints reported that stem from these recalled products.
