Despite exorbitant cost of living, California has some of the nation's lowest property tax rates
A recent report from Redfin reveals a complex picture of property taxes across the U.S., with nearly every major metro experiencing increases since 2019. While Florida is home to three of the five metros with the most significant hikes, California’s property tax situation remains relatively stable compared to high-tax states like New York and New Jersey. In fact, San Jose ranks as the fourth highest in the nation for median monthly property taxes at $782, trailing only Nassau County, NY ($905), Newark, NJ ($848), and New York City ($821).
