Woman Grazed by Bullet in Franconia — “A suspect was taken into custody after what police are calling a ‘domestic-related shooting’ where a woman was grazed by a bullet in her head Friday night. According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the shooting happened in Franconia in the 5900 block of Saint Giles Way.” [WUSA9]
Person injured after crash involving Fairfax County school bus in Oakton, Virginia
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A person was injured after a crash that involved a private vehicle and a Fairfax County school bus Monday, according to Fairfax County police. Crews were called to the intersection of Vale Road and Fox Mill Road at around 6:44 a.m. The driver of the private vehicle received minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital in non-life-threatening condition, officials said.

Flint Hill ready to begin defense of state volleyball title
The Flint Hill Huskies begin the 2024 volleyball in a position the girls high-school team has been in for a long time now - defending state champions. The Huskies won last season's Division I private-school state championship for the 12th time in program history and the sixth time overall. Flint Hill also finished 33-3 last fall and begins the new campaign with a 13-match winning streak.
Honeygrow opens 4th Virginia location
Honeygrow, a Philadelphia-based chain serving stir-frys, salads and honeybars, opened Saturday in Fairfax, Virginia, marking the state's fourth location. "We are thrilled to bring our brand to the Fairfax community as we continue to build a solid foundation in Virginia," Justin Rosenberg, founder and CEO of Honeygrow, said in a company press release. "Coming off the extremely positive opening late last year in Alexandria, we're excited to continue our growth in Virginia with more openings slated in 2025 and beyond. The community has been amazing and we're proud to be a part of it."
Celebration of life for Lawrence A. Davies Jr.
A visitation will be held in the Fredericksburg City Council Chambers (Hanover entrance) of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne Street, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, to honor the Rev. Lawrence A. Davies Jr.’s civic service. An additional visitation will be held at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. which will be live-streamed to Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), 801 Sophia Street. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with a repast afterward at Shiloh Old Site.
Shooting incident under investigation in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police are investigating a shooting that left two injured Monday evening. We’re told the incident happened at around 9:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Light Street. Police say there were two victims, both adult men. One was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was treated for critical injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Markko Darvelle Morsell, 34, is wanted for escape after removing his electronic monitoring device and fleeing the area following his latest arrest. At the the time, Morsell was on pretrial release for charges that include three counts of second-degree assault, theft of $100 to under $1,500, and making threats of arson.
