Osmow's Shawarma opens Tuesday in Manassas
North America’s largest Middle Eastern restaurant chain is opening this week in Northern Virginia. The newest Osmow's Shawarma, located at 9685 Liberia Ave., Suite 105 in Manassas, opens Tuesday and will treat the first 200 customers to a free "Regular Chicken ON THE ROX," a signature dish featuring carved chicken shawarma from the rotisserie served on a bed of seasoned rice, topped off with garlic sauce, tahini and sumac.
Samuels Public Library Adult Programming Events for September
You can find and register for all library events on our website, www.samuelslibrary.net. The Library will be closed on Monday, September 2nd for Labor Day. In person. We will meet at the Shenandoah River State Park Visitor Center. Did you know that one out of every three bites of our food, including fruits, vegetables, chocolate, coffee, nuts, and spices, is created with the help of pollinators? Join us as we review tips for capturing great photographs of our summer pollinators including butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and more. We will begin with a review of when, where, and how to photograph these flying wonders. Following the review, we will head to the field to practice these techniques. All types of cameras from smartphones to professional cameras and levels of photographers are welcomed. State Park parking fee rules apply for attending this program. The Library has a limited number of LVA state park bags with passes. Availability is not guaranteed.

County Executive Marc Elrich and County Employees Attend MACO Summer Conference in Ocean City
Last week, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich was in Ocean City for the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO) summer conference. In his weekly message to the community, he shared that mmong the topics the conference focused on were child care, Medicaid and K-12 education, as well as a lot of discussion and sessions regarding the impact of AI on local governance. One Dog, Two Birds Rescued After Resident Alerted of Fire by Webcam
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at Prism Pl. in Gaithersburg on Saturday evening. According to MCFRS Spokesperson David Pazos, crews were initially dispatched at 6:51pm on Saturday for an apartment fire on the terrace level. Crews forced entry into the apart net and extinguished a kitchen fire.
