Five-point Carlisle intersection could see changes in coming years; roundabout possible
Changes could be on the way to a five-point intersection in downtown Carlisle, though they may still be a few miles down the road. The crossing is at Walnut Bottom Road, Willow Street and West Street near the Carlisle Family YMCA. This intersection will be studied through the Federal Highway Administration's Intersection Control Evaluation process to determine what improvements could be made, PennDOT District Press Officer Dave Thompson said.
The 5th Susquehanna Folk Festival is Coming to Downtown York
A full weekend of the very finest in international and local folk music and dance, with an eclectic world music lineup featuring everything from Cape Breton Fiddle to Appalachian/Venezuelan Fusion is coming to the Appell Center for the Performing Arts for the fifth Susquehanna Folk Festival, August 9-11, 2024, presented by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society. The Festival is made possible through generous grants from The National Endowment for The Arts, and York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the support for the Appell Center for the Performing Arts.
Man accused of stealing beer
Watsontown, Pa. — A Lemoyne man was charged for allegedly stealing beer from a property in Northumberland County. Trp. Tyler Arbogast of state police at Milton says Jason Aikey, 49, took three beer cans the evening of July 2 from the private property on Firehouse Lane in Delaware Township. Aikey was charged with theft and trespassing through the office of District Judge Michael Diehl in Milton.
2 fire tanker trucks heading to large warehouse blaze crash, injuring 7 firefighters
YORK, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say seven firefighters were injured when two tanker trucks crashed while responding to a large blaze in York, Pennsylvania. Officials said the crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Friday in Spring Garden Township, about a third of a mile from the large warehouse fire in the city.
Even in summer, high school sports are never far from mind
I am barely over my first real-deal sunburn of the summer and the upcoming fall sports season is already creeping into my mind. Typically, I’ve been able to separate church and state long enough to enjoy the dog days up until August before the noggin gets crammed full of coverage scenarios and potential logistical nightmares. No such luck this time around as the schedule is accelerated with numerous rule changes, realignments and reclassifications to get the hamster wheel turning.

Riley was born May 10, 2005, in Hanover, the son of Brett A. and Lauren M. (Riley) Emig of Abbottstown. Riley was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Abbottstown, a 2023 graduate of Spring Grove High School, and was employed with Old Dominion Trucking Co. as a fork lift operator. Riley’s passion was racing cars. Riley started his racing career at the age of six, and concluded his career racing 410 sprint cars by the age of 18. Riley was known as a loyal, loving, compassionate young man by all. Riley will continue to help others through the Gift of Life Program Organ Donation.

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. was selected for an $89 million federal grant that will support a $178 million investment necessary to upgrade current electric model quality and to increase production of two LiveWire models at the company’s plant in York, Pennsylvania.<\p> That’s the word from U.S. Sen.
