On Wednesday, the Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County (EDGE) approved a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) for Reconext Tennessee LLC. Tennessee student with disabilities excluded from own commencement, sues principal
GREENFIELD, Tenn. — New information has been released regarding the exclusion of three high school graduates from their own commencement. In May, a petition to fire Greenfield High School Principal Jamie Doster was developed in response to him requiring three students with disabilities to sit in the audience instead of with their class. Kennedy Lee was one of those students, and she has filed a complaint under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The complaint alleges that "This case involves extreme prejudice and insecurity towards persons with disabilities."
