MIDDLETON, Wis. -- The City of Middleton announced Friday residents have more public art to enjoy, as t en locations along the city's Metro transit routes now feature artwork by Dane County artists.

The city said t he project is intended to highlight, encourage, and promote local artists by giving them exposure in the public realm, while also compensating them for their work. The art will enhance the city's visual appeal, especially at city gateways and other streetscaping amenities.

The city said out of 56 submissions, seven artists were selected for their outstanding quality of work, creativity, and overall fit for the project. The artists' pieces will be displayed in the city for up to seven years.

The city said the art project was funded through the its capital budget and tax increment financing district. Other works of art can be found through pop-up events, Middleton Youth Center art classes, and Art Walk Middleton.
