MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 17-year-old is facing nearly a dozen charges in connection to a roadside shooting in April.

The Middletown resident was located on July 1 and charged with the following:

    • two counts of first-degree criminal attempt of assault,
    • criminal possession of a firearm,
    • carrying a pistol without a permit,
    • illegal discharge of a firearm,
    • first-degree reckless endangerment,
    • possession of a stolen motor vehicle,
    • third-degree criminal mischief,
    • second-degree breach of peace,
    • and commission of a Class A, B, or C felony with a firearm.

They were transferred to juvenile detention and were scheduled to appear in court on July 2.

The charges stem from April 24, when officers responded to the intersection of Pearl and Court streets for report of a shooting around 2:30 p.m.

Officers determined the driver of a vehicle traveling on Court Street stopped in the intersection and got out of the vehicle before firing several rounds from a handgun at two male targets who were talking on Pearl Street.

As the two men ran away, one of them- identified later as 19-year-old Chauncey Robertson- began firing back to the driver. Multiple rounds struck vehicles and residences in the area during the crossfire, police said.

Police said Robertson was arrested after a foot pursuit and his weapon was recovered, but the driver to the vehicle and drove away.

Detectives later identified the above 17-year-old as the driver involved in the shooting and said he was driving a stolen vehicle at the time.
