    Roundup: MOT downs Camden-Wyoming for Senior League softball District I crown

    MOT captured the Senior League softball District I title with a 10-2 victory over Camden-Wyoming on Saturday evening.

    The Middletown-area squad went 3-0 in the tournament in Little League’s age group for 14-16 year olds.

    MOT moves on to the two-team, best-of-three state tourney, which starts on July 11 at New Castle County’s District II.

    The Senior League World Series is again being hosted by Lower Sussex Little League.

    8-10 tournament

    MOT 22, Milford 0: MOT opened the District I tournament with a victory on Saturday night.

    Grace Wyatt finished with a pair of home runs and six RBI for the Middletown squad in the tourney, which is being played at Smyrna-Clayton.

    Reese Dempsey and Grace Fleming both had three hits for MOT.

    Intermediate tournament

    MOT 18, Camden-Wyoming 6: MOT advanced to the finals of the District I tourney with the win on Saturday night.

    The team from Middletown (2-0) will play for the title on Monday at 6 p.m. at Dover.

    Charlie Koch and Nathan Collins collected three hits each for MOT while Colton Murray had two hits and three RBI. Kai Johnson and Miles Clark also had two hits with Jordyn Brown hitting a two-run double.

    MOT 20, Dover 0: MOT posted a shutout as it won its opener in the District I tournament on Friday night.

    Ayden Markiewicz had a pair of hits and four RBI for Middletown while.Charlie Koch, Kevin Koerner, Miles Clark and Colton Murray all had two hits.
