Authorities in Middletown are searching for a shooter responsible for some frightening moments downtown on Friday when a bullet hit
a person’s living room wall. The incident happened overnight on Grand Avenue around 1 a.m., according to police. The damage is seen in images shared on a website for neighborhood Ring camera users. “Here’s the bullet hole,” a man says from inside the residence while showing the hole in the wall and damage to a ceiling fan. “It’s angled upward, banged against that and indented it.”
A person who answered the door at the home on Monday didn’t want to be identified but says he was in his bedroom feet away from where the bullet pierced through. Another neighbor, who didn’t provide her name, says she heard three loud booms from across the street. “I heard it from over there, {on the} other side of the house,” says the woman. Police were captured on cellphone video canvassing for clues outside of the home overnight. Other neighbors that News 12 spoke to say they thought the commotion was part of leftover Fourth of July celebrations. “It sounded like fireworks. I didn’t think anything of it,” says Kadijah Phillips. Officials say no one was hurt and that they’re still searching for the shooter. “It’s insane. Middletown is changing,” says Phillips. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Middletown police at 845-343-3151. "
