MIDDLETOWN, NJ - The President of the Belford Seafood Co-op spoke at the recent Middletown Committee meeting to share his concerns about development in the Belford section of  town.

In a spirited discussion with Mayor Perry, the speaker expressed concerns about development in Belford. The Mayor shared his concerns about state mandates and that the property in question was part of their affordable housing plan. The discussion of redeveloping the area in question dates back approximately ten years, according to the township attorney.

Another resident spoke up about the costs and impacts of having local taxpayers pay for political visits in town. The Mayor stated that the town would be asking for reimbursement for the event because it was a political event and not related to policy that would impact Middletown. Other comments centered around brush pickup and cleanup of large branches and trees after some of the significant storms of late.
