Two Tractor-Trailers Crash and Catch Fire in on NJ Turnpike in Monroe Township
MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–New Jersey State Police, Sgt. Charles Marchan, told MidJersey.news that Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 12:47 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike North, milepost 73, Monroe, Middlesex County, Saturday July 20, 2024. Based on a preliminary investigation, two tractor-trailers were traveling north when they were involved in a collision. After the collision, one of the tractors began to catch on fire. No injuries were reported on scene. The crash remains under investigation, and there is no additional information available.
4-Year-Old with Serious Injuries, Three Others Injured After Car Crashes into Tree in East Windsor
EAST WINDSOR, NJ (MERCER)–Police say that on Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 10:53 p.m., the East Windsor Police Department responded to a reported collision involving a single vehicle crashing into a tree in the area of Brookwood Gardens. Preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2008 Honda Civic was traveling west on Hickory Corner Road, veered off the roadway, and collided into a large tree located on Brookwood Gardens property. The driver and three passengers were injured. A juvenile passenger (4-years-old) sustained serious injuries and was transported to RWJ New Brunswick by New Jersey State Police Medevac and Capital Health Paramedics. The driver, an adult passenger, and an additional juvenile passenger were all transported via ambulance to RWJ New Brunswick for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident is under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
NJ Lottery Contributes over a Billion Dollars to State for 7th Year in a Row; Lottery Announces Unaudited Fiscal Year Results
TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey announced today the unaudited sales revenues for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY2024) that ended June 30. Sales for the year totaled $3.6 billion, the fourth highest in the history of the lottery and a 2.5 percent decrease over the prior year. The slight reduction in sales is attributed, in part, to expanded options for entertainment dollars. Lottery sales have exceeded $3 billion annually since FY2015.
Crash on I-195 East in Upper Freehold Township

It was reported that a vehicle left the roadway overturned with entrapment. Firefighters and EMS removed the victim and transported the patient to a local hospital.

Willingboro Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography
Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced that a 55-year-old Willingboro man has been charged with possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Arthur Pitt was taken into custody at his residence on July 16 and lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly. He was released yesterday following a first appearance in Superior Court. The case will be prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.

Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Fire and Save Robbinsville Home
ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–Robbinsville Fire Department reported that firefighters were dispatched to Patricia Lane at 6:54 a.m. on July 18, 2024, for a resident reporting smoke in their home. After dispatch, additional information was provided reporting an active structure fire at the address. When firefighters arrived at the location, they reported visible fire from the rear of the home extending to the attic area. The residents had self-evacuated upon arrival and were uninjured. An “all hands” was called for sending additional firefighters and equipment, including tankers due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, from Hamilton Township, West Windsor, Plainsboro, Monroe, and Upper Freehold. Fire crews advanced two, inch and 3/4″ handlines into the burning home quickly knocking the fire down and conducted overhaul to prevent further extension. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. The Robbinsville Township Fire Marshal is actively investigating the cause of the fire, which was not suspicious in nature.

Barnegat Township Man Pleads Guilty to Narcotics Distribution, Burglary and Firearms Charges
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on July 15, 2024, Quaison Ellis, 25, of Barnegat Township, pled guilty to Possession of More than One Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Heroin with Intent to Distribute before the Honorable Kenneth T. Palmer, J.S.C., in connection with an incident that occurred in Barnegat on September 10, 2021. Additionally, Ellis pled guilty to Possession of More than One Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, being a Certain Person Not to Possess a Firearm, and Burglary, all in connection with an incident that also occurred in Barnegat on December 9, 2022. At the time of his sentencing on September 13, 2024, the State will be seeking a term of ten years New Jersey State Prison (NJSP) as to the possession with intent to distribute heroin charge, ten years NJSP relative to the possession with intent to distribute cocaine charge, five years NJSP – with a five year period of parole ineligibility – as to the weapon offense, and three years NJSP with regard to the burglary charge. The sentences are to run concurrently.
