“Hidden Cocktail Experience” Coming Soon to Olney
Last year we let you know that Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company (5000 Olney Laytonsville Rd in Olney) would be launching Fallen Oak Distilling. Scheduled to open this fall, Fallen Oak will deliver an “exquisite range of spirits, meticulously crafted for the discerning palate” that will also come with a “hidden cocktail experience.”
Signage installed at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Rockville
The sign is up at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, which is expected to open by the end of summer 2024 at Federal Plaza in Rockville. Kura is splitting the former Chuy's space with Torchy's Tacos. Asked for an update, a Torchy's spokesperson says only that they are still scheduled for a fall 2024 opening; there is still not an official opening date on the calendar. The windows at Kura remain covered, so we can't yet get a sneak peek at the progress inside, which is to include sushi conveyor belts and KuraBot robots.

Community Rallies to Support Family Grieving the Loss of Teenage Daughter
The Olney community is rallying to support the family of Athena Greco, a Sherwood High School student who tragically died on August 23rd. As of 11:30am, over $11,000 has been raised via GoFundMe to support Athena’s mother in covering “the cost of getting Athena back to Maryland, medical, funeral rent and bills as she will be off of work for sometime to take care of things.” Additional information, per the GoFundMe fundraiser can be seen below:
