Crossing guards, Wildcatter Trail are topics for City Council
City Council will meet Tuesday for its first meeting of July. Here’s a quick preview of items on the agenda for their meeting, which will be held at 10 a.m. in City Council chambers, 300 N. Loraine St. Management of crossing guards: Council members will vote on whether to award All City Management Services (ACMS) a contract to manage crossing guards for the city. This service is slated to cost $839,710.80 annually. Crossing guards are at 54 sites near schools around Midland. ACMS is headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, California. Fire Station Roof: Council will vote on ratifying a contract with Tommy Klein Construction for the roofing project for Fire Station 8. The city is requested a change order for an additional $23,176,38, bringing the project total to $119,854.82. The additional funding is to address rotten roof decking that was discovered. Groundwater treatment: The city recommends awarding a contract to TruClear Water Solutions for advanced groundwater treatment in the amount of $1.44 million. The funds are available in the utilities fund unappropriated fund balance. TruClear is looking to use its advanced molecular oxidation system to treat groundwater for the city.
