    Bryce Hoppel advances to Olympic trials semifinal

    EUGENE, Oregon (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland High graduate Bryce Hoppel advanced to the semifinal round of the men’s 800-meter run at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Hoppel finished first in his heat with a time of 1:46.83, the ninth-best time of any runner in the first round.

    The semifinal race is Friday, June 28 at 8:39 p.m. central time.

    Hoppel is seeking his second-career Olympics appearance after winning back-to-back U.S. national championships in the 800-meter and an indoor world championship.
